Linda Britt, LPC

  Licensed Professional Counselor
  Board Certified

Linda Britt is a board certified Licensed Professional Counselor, with Mental Health Service Provider (MHSP) designation. The MHSP designation indicates additional training in assessment and diagnosis of psychopathology, beyond the basic requirements for licensure as an LPC.

Linda is a retired Air Force officer, with a Master of Arts degree in Mass Communication from Arizona State University, and a Master of Science degree in Mental Health Counseling from the University of Tennessee. In addition to private practice, she has worked in a hospice setting, has taught Interpersonal Communication in community colleges, and has conducted corporate communication and team-building seminars.

Linda works with adults, adolescents, teens, and children. Her areas of expertise include couples communication, pre-marital counseling, mood disorders, depression, anxiety, grief, domestic violence, and caregiving issues. Linda is a member of the American Counseling Association and the National Board of Certified Counselors. She also serves on the University of Tennessee Counselor Education Advisory Board. Board members act as a liaison between the community and the university, inform faculty of current counseling issues and trends, review and recommend program policies and practices, and participate in selecting new faculty.

"You Can't Make Me"

"Attachments"

Why is it so difficult to connect with, or even get along with, certain people especially the ones you care about the most? Drs. Tim Clinton and Gary Sibcy believe that, for each of us, our present relationships are influenced by our first "attachments" or bonds with people in early childhood. Consequently, understanding your pattern of relating to others what the authors call your "attachment style" is the cornerstone for building satisfying relationships with the people you love.
